Artist Bio

Painter and Mixed Media Artist

Anastasia Pasmanik is a contemporary artist whose work blends painting, drawing, and mixed media on paper, canvas, and panel. With a focus on line, form, and color, She works in oil, ink, pastel, and charcoal to create compositions that balance fluidity and structure. Her art is an exploration of nature’s often-overlooked nuances, capturing moments of transition, decay, and renewal—whether in tangled roots, decaying tree trunks, or the fleeting changes of seasons.

Originally from a background in technology and recruiting, her journey to visual art is one marked by both technical proficiency and a deep desire for creative expression. After graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a BA in Foreign Studies, she spent several years in the tech industry. This professional foundation in problem-solving and structure has carried over into her art, where she merges methodical techniques with organic, flowing forms.

Anastasia moved to Cabin John, Maryland, in 2022, and since then, she has dedicated herself to advancing her career as a visual artist. Drawing inspiration from her daily surroundings along the Potomac River and Cabin John Creek, she spends considerable time outdoors, seeking beauty in the often-overlooked details of nature.

Though largely self-taught, Anastasia has refined her craft through instruction at the Yellow Barn Studio, where she studied with accomplished artists such as Walt Bartman, Gavin Glakas, and others. This mix of self-guided learning and formal training has helped shape her approach to art, which straddles both technical expertise and personal style.

Through her work, Anastasia aims to capture the resilience of nature and its ever-changing beauty, inviting the viewer to reflect on the quiet transformations occurring just beneath the surface.
